6th ANNUAL GAPIO CONFERENCE ON JANUARY 9TH & 10TH AT BANGALORE
Doctors will get their dosage of knowledge in the city at the 6th International Conference of GAPIO

Doctors of international repute from India and abroad will soon be gathering in the city to participate in a two-day long conference that will have a series of insightful talks and discussions on the best practices, newer developments, and challenges in the field of medicine. The 6th International Conference of Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) will be held at Hotel Sheraton in Bangalore on January 9 and 10, 2016. It is being organized by Columbia Asia Hospitals under the leadership of Dr. Nandakumar Jairam, Chairman and Group Medical Director, Columbia Asia Hospitals.

The conference will focus mainly on clinical topics of interest in the development and progress of healthcare delivery. It will include panel discussions represented by faculty and delegates from India and abroad who will share their knowledge and expertise in the field of medicine.

“This is a yearly event that brings together physicians of Indian origin from across the globe to interact and share learnings with each other. There are several unique features this year including the Gandhi Fair, the commemorative special postal cover release as well as the release of a Book. The insightful talks by various specialists will be a learning experience for doctors attending the event. Highlighting the focus of this year’s GAPIO Meet, Dr Pradeep Rangappa, organizing secretary, GAPIO 2016 and consultant Intensive Care physician, Columbia Asia Hospitals, said, “There are multiple highlights during this meet, apart from excellent scientific deliberations from Key Opinion Leaders. Funds raised from the Gandhi Fair that will be inaugurated on Saturday evening will be utilized for healthcare charitable work. Release of a special postal cover by Hon. Union Minister Mr Anant Kumar will mark this credible event as memorable to all.”

The symposium will see participation of around 400-500 doctors of Indian origin from India as well as from various parts of USA, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. This conference will harp on a wide range of topics like diabetology, child health and nutrition, gynaecology, oncology, GI and liver transplant, cardiology and neurosciences.

Dr. Irl B Hirsch, the professor of medicine at the University Of Washington School Of Medicine will deliver the key note address on ‘Changing trends in the management of type 2 diabetes’. Dr. Maheshkumar M Lakhe, Consultant – Internal Medicine & Infectious Diseases, Columbia Asia Hospital will deliver a very interesting talk on antibiotic abuse and how to minimize it. An insightful talk on Integrated GI Care Concept will be delivered by Dr. Govind Nandkumar, Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Columbia Asia Hospital.

Gynaecology will be another important area of discussion in this symposium. While Dr. Sapna Ahuja, Chief of Reproductive Medicine & IVF, Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield will be talking about the advances of IVF treatment, Dr, Shafalika Boriah, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Columbia Asia Hospital, Hebbal will highlight the progress in minimal invasive surgery in Gynaecology. Dr. Arvind Kasargod, Consultant – Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care, Columbia Asia Referral Hospital, Yeshwanthpur will be speaking on the challenges of Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in India.

Last year, the conference was organized at Chandigarh.
