GAPIO CHARITABLE TRUST CLINIC

GLOBAL ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICIANS OF INDIAN ORIGIN (GAPIO) was envisaged by Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group founder President of GAPIO Dr. Sanku Rao, Past President, American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) and Present President of GAPIO Dr. Ramesh Mehta, President, British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) and Present Vice President of GAPIO in January 2008 to bring doctors of Indian origin together from all over the world under one umbrella organization. GAPIO was launched at New Delhi India in January 2011 to bring together 1.2 million physicians of Indian origin in the world on one professional platform. This substantial work force of physicians is a valuable resource, which can help to mobilize significant developments in the healthcare globally. GAPIO has representation from 24 states in India and 26 countries at present. In U.S.A and U.K. our medical doctors form above 20% to 30% of doctors practicing in these countries. They form back bone of Medical and Health in these countries.

As part of GAPIO initiative a non-profit organization and its vision is “Improving Health Worldwide”. GAPIO has embarked upon India’s First Truly Integrated Comprehensive Health Scheme called “Total Health” which was launched on 27 October 2013, at Aragonda village of Thavanampalle Mandal of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.

GAPIO assisted in developing a web portal known as SwaasthIndia.com in collaboration with American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), USA and British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO), UK to provide essential healthcare services at various locations in India with the help of doctors from India and overseas. This site will act as a matchmaking portal where Indian Medical Diaspora can view and apply for these opportunities put up on this portal by various State Governments.

In another GAPIO project a plastic surgery camp was held in Bilaspur, Chattisgarh in January 2013 where more than 100 patients underwent free surgery. Dr. Ramesh Mehta, Vice President, GAPIO, has plans to have an exchange program to facilitate senior faculty exchange across institutions in India and other countries.

Since its formation in 2009 the first conference was held in New Delhi followed by Yearly in India and Half yearly conferences abroad, Second at Hyderabad, Third at Cochin, Fourth at Calcutta in 2013 Half yearly Conferences at Birmingham, U.K, New Jersey U.S.A, Anaheim USA and next midyear conference is to take place in Sydney, Australia and next 5th Annual conference in January 2015 at Chandigarh, India.

As a part of GAPIO initiative, we are inaugurating GAPIO Charitable Clinic and Laboratory in the Slum Areas HNO.53, Gunrock Enclave, Staff Road near Narne Estates, Secunderabad to cover 2000 families as “TOTAL HEALTH” on 13th April 2014 at 1 pm on subsidized rates. On this occasion we are conducting a free health camp from 9 to 12 noon. Specialists are also attending the camp. They will attend the Clinic daily on prior appointment.

Dr. Sanku Surender Rao International President GAPIO (Past President of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) will inaugurate the GAPIO Charitable Clinic and Laboratory.

Dr. G. Bala Reddy Coordinator of GAPIO, Andhra Pradesh Chapter and Dr. R. S. Saluja Past President of Andhra Pradesh Private Nursing Home Association will collaborate for smooth functioning of the project.
